Three injured in two-vehicle crash in Orleans County

A two-vehicle crash this morning in the Town of Ridgeway sent three people to the hospital, the Orleans County sheriff’s office reports.

Shortly before 8 a.m., a Jeep driven by Kelly P. Bailey, 51, of Medina, allegedly crossed the center line while traveling east on Ridge Road and struck a pick-up truck driven by Debra J. Albone-Gundrum, 62, of Lyndonville.

The Jeep continued off the north side of the road and flipped onto its roof, trapping the driver inside for about 25 minutes. After he was freed by firefighters who responded to the crash, Bailey was taken by helicopter to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. His front-seat passenger, James A. Groves, 43, of Medina, and the driver of the other vehicle were taken by ambulance to Medina Memorial Hospital.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Witnesses reported seeing the Jeep moving erratically before it crossed into oncoming traffic, the sheriff’s office said.
