A Colden woman was arrested on Wednesday after allegedly upsetting a pumpkin cart in the yard of a Boston area home with her SUV. The cart – a haywagon filled with pumpkins for sale – reportedly was hit, along with a mailbox and fence, when Barbara J. Bender-Suto lost control of her Mercury Mountaineer on Route 391.

Bender-Suto, 52, was charged with felony DWI and DWAI-drugs, along with traffic violations.

Troopers were already on the lookout for her vehicle after witnesses had reported it was driving erratically when they found the SUV stopped and disabled on the shoulder of the road. It had apparently crossed into the northbound lane before swerving south and into the yard.

Troopers reported that Bender-Suto, 52 uninjured but admitted having taking prescription narcotics before driving. She was transported to ECMC and checked by the emergency room staff.
