Packaged salads and puddings sold under the Reser’s Fine Foods brand and sold at area stores may contain listeria monocytogenes.
The Oregon-based company is recalling 109,000 cases of the refrigerated products manufactured at its Topeka, Kansas, salad manufacturing facility after listeria was found on two surfaces at the plant.
Reser’s 15-ounce cole slaw, UPC code 7111719014 with a use-by date of 10/23/2013 and Reser’s 16-ounce potato salad, UPC code 7111719000 with a use-by date of 11/26/2013 were sold at Wegmans.
Reser’s 11-ounce ambrosia pudding, UPC 7111718263, and pistachio pudding, UPC 7111718262, were sold at Tops, as were Reser’s 16-ounce ambrosia salad, UPC 23682500000, and four bean salad, UPC 23682400000.
Both stores have pulled all affected items from shelves.
Listeria can cause illness or even death in people with compromised immune systems. Consumers should return the product to the store for a full refund or throw it away. For more information, call Reser’s consumer hotline, 1-888-257-7913, or visit www.fda.gov.
