‘Halloween Spooktacular’ to feature contest and rides

LEWISTON – The annual “Halloween Spooktacular” is on tap from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Power Vista, the visitor center for the Niagara Power Project, 5777 Lewiston Road.

Children up to age 16 will be able to participate in a costume contest from 10 to 2, with prizes to be awarded at 2:30, based on originality, creativity and overall appearance. Games will be provided by the Niagara Police Athletic League, crafts by the state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, and visits to the haunted house by the Lockport YMCA’s Teen Leaders Group.

There will be free hay rides, and State Parks also will provide free rides on its Niagara Scenic Trolley between the Gorge Discovery Center and the Power Vista.
