Joyce V. Bell, of Buffalo, a retired BlueCross BlueShield employee, died Saturday in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst, after a long illness. She was 65.
Born Joyce Jacobs in Bolton, N.C., she came to Buffalo after finishing high school.
She worked for BlueCross BlueShield for 35 years as a customer service representative.
The wife of Rev. John H. Bell, she was active in Evangelistic Temple Community Church, working tirelessly in the kitchen and decorating for special events.
In addition to her husband of 39 years, survivors include a son, Scott; a stepson, Jamie; her father, Walter Jacobs; and two brothers, Lawrence Jacobs and Maceo Jacobs.
Services will be at noon Friday after a wake at 11 a.m. in Evangelistic Temple Community Church, 92 Hedley Place.
