Niagara Falls man arraigned in stolen gun case

LOCKPORT – A man who allegedly threw a stolen handgun away while running from Niagara Falls police June 16 was arraigned on two felony charges Tuesday in Niagara County Court.

Lester D. Florence Jr., 25, of Center Avenue in the Falls, pleaded not guilty to second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.

Police headed to a Highland Avenue bar after a report of a man with a gun. A man identified as Florence fled on foot, and the pursuing officers said that he tossed a gun away during the chase. The handgun had been reported stolen in Allegany County, police reported at the time.
