NIAGARA FALLS – A fire early this morning destroyed a two-story single family home at 1119 Pierce Ave.

Monetary damages have not been determined but the home was called a complete loss by fire investigators. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Fire Investigations Capt. David Kudela said the house was engulfed by flames when firefighters arrived at 5:14 a.m. It appears the fire started on the second floor.

“The total upstairs burnt through the roof. The second floor was gutted,” Kudela said.

He said one man who lived in the house was able to escape without injury.

The fire spread to adjacent houses at 1117 and 1121 Pierce Ave., causing minor exposure damage, according to Kudela.
