Teenager pleads guilty to attempted murder

A Buffalo teenager has pleaded guilty to attempted murder after he tried to kill a 17-year-old girl on South Park Avenue at Louisiana Street.

The revolver did not fire because he loaded it with the wrong ammunition.

Umar Graham, 17, also pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a weapon in the June 8 attempted shooting, said Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III.

Graham admitted pulling the trigger on his revolver at least four times, Sedita said.

Graham faces up to 25 years in prison when sentenced Nov. 21 by State Supreme Court Justice Penny M. Wolfgang.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Paul C. Parisi, of the Tactical Prosecution Unit, and Assistant District Attorney Danielle Soluri, of the Felony Trial Bureau.

Sedita also credited Officers Joseph Acquino and Ian Baker of the Buffalo Police Department for apprehending Graham within minutes of the crime.
