NIAGARA FALLS – A robber armed with a handgun held up the Dairy Queen in the 2500 block of Niagara Street at about 10:48 a.m. today, city police reported.

The restaurant is near the Niagara Street Elementary School and the Niagara Falls School District was notified, but a district employee said they were informed by police that a lockdown was not necessary.

The robber was described as possibly in his early 20s, 5 foot 9 to 5 foot 11 tall with a thin build, wearing baggy blue jeans, a plain gray hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled tight and a white bandana covering most of his face. The race and hair color of the suspect are unclear due to the manner in which he concealed his face with the hood and bandana.

No one was injured in the robbery. No arrest has been made.

City detectives are reviewing surveillance from the holdup.
