Depew man charged with DWI after striking cow carcass

An 18-year-old Depew man has been charged in an unusual drunken-driving incident after his vehicle struck a cow carcass Sunday in Wyoming County, State Police at Warsaw reported.

A vehicle driven by Eric D. Lewandowski was westbound on Centerline Road in the Town of Orangeville when it struck the carcass of the cow, which apparently had been struck and killed earlier by a vehicle that left the scene.

After his vehicle hit the carcass. Lewandowski lost control, with the vehicle leaving the highway and rolling over at least twice.

Lewandowski and two male passengers were taken to Wyoming County Community Hospital, where they were treated and released.

Lewandowski was charged with driving while intoxicated, and a blood sample will be sent to the State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
