Driver charged with aggravated DWI after vehicle dead-ends in Sherman cemetery

SHERMAN – A Sherman woman was charged with drunken driving after crashing into a cemetery, Chautauqua County sheriff’s officials said.

Samantha L. Griswold, 24, was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, deputies said. The crash occurred on Route 430 about 11:30 p.m. Friday, when Griswold lost control, drove into the cemetery and causing damage before hitting a tree.

Griswold and a passenger were not injured. An investigation is under way.
