The monthly jobs report for the Buffalo Niagara region and the release of local unemployment rates that normally follows five days later has been delayed because of the federal government shutdown, the state Labor Department said.

The labor department normally would have released its September report on employment in the Buffalo Niagara region on Thursday afternoon, with data on the local unemployment rate scheduled for release on Tuesday. But those reports have been delayed indefinitely because of the federal government shutdown, which forced a delay in the release of the nationwide jobs report for September earlier this month.

Labor department officials said no new release dates have been set for the reports.
