BATAVIA – The Batavia Police Department is investigating two recent incidents in which guns were fired in the city.
The department has issued a felony warrant for Dashawn Allen Butler, 34, who is being sought in connection with an incident on State Street.
At the same time, two men have been questioned and a third is being sought in a shooting incident on Jackson Street. The department is awaiting the results of testing at the State Police Forensic Investigation Center in Albany on physical evidence recovered from the scene of the Jackson Street shooting, Police Chief Shawn Heubusch said.
The department is working with the Genesee County Drug Task Force and the state Parole Department on the Jackson Street case.
“Batavia is not going to tolerant this type of violence,” Heubusch said. “We are committed to providing safe neighborhoods for our residents and police department and citizen collaboration is vital to maintaining a safe city.”
