LOCKPORT - A Lockport man who served as the getaway car driver in one bank robbery and robbed another bank on his own was sentenced to two to four years in prison Wednesday by Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas.

James M. Williams, 31, of Tudor Lane, had pleaded guilty to two reduced counts of attempted third-degree robbery.

Williams drove Joseph J. Trusello, 24, of Lewiston, to and from the M&T Bank branch at Walnut and Pine streets March 8. On Jan. 2, Williams himself held up the Bank of America branch in Newfane.

Trusello, who was sentenced Oct. 2 to 2 1/2 to five years in prison, and Williams each will owe $2,500 restitution to M&T Bank after their release from prison, Farkas ordered. No restitution was sought in the Bank of America holdup.
