A 43-year-old Amherst man was charged with drunken driving and causing a two-car crash Friday afternoon on Transit Road near Main Street in Clarence, State Police reported Monday.

David E. Cassidy, of Boca Place, was arrested at about 2:15 p.m. after he reportedly stopped his car abruptly because he was confused about which way to turn off the road, causing a car to crash into his from behind. Cassidy had a blood alcohol level of 0.12 percent and was charged with driving while intoxicated, ticketed for moving from a lane unsafely and making an illegal stop. He faces proceedings in Clarence Town Court in two weeks.
