People: 2,000-plus faculty, staff and students

• State capital project appropriations: $35 million

• Existing UB capital appropriations: $50 million in funds previously planned for maintenance of three existing medical school buildings on South Campus

• Fundraising: A goal of $50 million

• UB medical school reserves: $25 million

• Bond financing: $215 million

Architect: HOK, winner of a competition

Building features:

• Interconnected spaces for laboratories, education and collaboration

• Advanced simulation centers to teach general patient care and surgery

• Sky bridges to other buildings

• Integration of new NFTA-Metro Allen/Hospital station

Land purchased for project:

• 960 Washington St.; $1.2 million; from Evergreen Real Estate, whose partners included developer Michael Joseph, a former board member of UB Foundation. UB says Joseph served on foundation prior to plans to build new school

• Parking lot at 911 Main St.; $1.2 million; from Roosevelt Housing Associates

• 973 Main St.; donated by First Niagara Financial Group for $1

Expansion plan:

• Create 100 new faculty positions by 2016

• Increase medical school class size from 140 to 180 students per year
