A free evening of poetry readings presented by Buffalo-area writers will be held Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 107 Scott Street.

The event begins at 6 p.m. with a social, followed by the readings at 7. The theme of the occasion is autumn, but poems to be read are likely to be wide-ranging in subject matter, according to organizers.

Poets scheduled to participate include Gene Grabiner, Loren Keller, John Marvin, Peter Siedlecki, Carol Townsend and Ryki Zuckerman. An open mic may follow if time permits.

Also this week:

• The Common Council will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in City Hall, 200 Niagara St. There will be an informal session at 6 p.m. and then another following the formal meeting at about 7:30 p.m.

• Staff from State Sen. Mark Grisanti’s office will hold satellite office hours Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in City Hall.
