Bottom Line: UB’s defense has bounced back since the shellacking at Baylor. The Bulls forced four more turnovers to break open what had been a close game.

Turning Point: Western Michigan’s Andrew Haldeman missed a 33-yard field goal attempt at the end of the first half and UB’s Patrick Clarke nailed a 51-yarder early in the second half, a six-point swing.

Play of the Game: The Broncos triple-teamed Khalil Mack on a few occasions, but he still broke through for a strip-sack of Zach Terrell that was recovered by Adam Redden. That set up a Joe Licata’s TD pass to Mason Schreck, making it 16-0 early in the third quarter.

Defensive Player of the Game: Senior end Colby Way struck for a career-high three sacks.

Offensive Player of the Game: With the Broncos concentrating on Alex Neutz, senior Fred Lee stepped up with four catches for 88 yards and a TD.

Stat Check: UB had not won a road game by shutout since 1965.

Stat Check II: The Bulls owned the ball for 36 minutes and 58 seconds.

Next Up: UB returns home for a 3:30 p.m. Saturday date with UMass.
