Sara G. Vaccaro, retired antiques dealer

Sara G. Vaccaro, a retired antiques dealer, died Wednesday at Sisters of Charity Hospital-St. Joseph Campus in Cheektowaga, after a short illness. She was 90.

Born in Buffalo, the former Sara Gaeta graduated from Grover Cleveland High School in 1942.

She was proprietor of Sara’s Shop, an antiques and collectibles store in Buffalo, from 1965 to 1978.

She and her husband, Donald, relocated to Charlotte, N.C., in 1978, but returned to Western New York in 2002.

While in North Carolina, Mrs. Vaccaro volunteered for several years at the Hizakiah Alexander House at the Charlotte Museum of History.

She enjoyed playing tennis and cards.

Her husband died in 2010.

Mrs. Vaccaro is survived by a son, Donald Jr.; three daughters, Kathleen Barrus, Nancy and Donna; a sister, Clara Kitt; and a brother, Paul Gaeta.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Lester Wedekindt Funeral Home, 3290 Delaware Ave., Kenmore.
