Niagara County motorcyclist in critical condition

LOCKPORT – A male motorcyclist was in critical condition early today at Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo and his female passenger was being treated there after both of them were injured in a crash with a minivan at South Transit and Rapids roads about 7:10 p.m.

Niagara County Sheriff James R. Voutour said the female driver of the minivan was treated at the scene for injuries.

No charges have been issued, and none of their names was immediately released.

The motorcyclist was northbound on South Transit when the minivan turned in front of the cycle, the sheriff said. The cycle struck the passenger side of the minivan and both the cyclist and his passenger were ejected from the motorcycle.

The sheriff said the Wendelville, Rapids and South Lockport fire companies assisted his men at the scene of the accident.
