Dunkirk man arrested in alleged shooting

DUNKIRK – A 22-year-old Dunkirk man was arrested on felony assault and weapons charges Thursday afternoon about two hours after he allegedly shot a man on Block S. Beaver Street.

Nathaniel D. Hollins Jr. of Ruggles Street, was charged with second-degree assault, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal use of a firearm and he is being held in the city lockup pending his arraignment.

Police were called to the emergency room of Brooks Memorial Hospital about 1:40 p.m. because the medical staff there was treating a man who had been shot in his upper left leg about 11 minutes earlier during an incident on Block S. Beaver Street.

Hollins was taken into custody at 3:33 p.m.
