NIAGARA FALLS – Robert J. Elder, one of three Republican-endorsed candidates running for City Council in next month’s election, has dropped out of the race.

Elder notified Niagara Falls Republican Committee Chairwoman Patricia Castillo on Tuesday afternoon via text message, Castillo said. Elder said Wednesday he was dropping out for personal reasons. However, his name will remain on the ballot along with six other candidates for the three seats to be filled.
