Alden Town councilman dies unexpectedly

Town of Alden Councilman William Weber passed away unexpectedly Wednesday. He was 62.

Weber, who was a retired industrial arts teacher from Alden High School, loved the community, said Alden Town Clerk Ralph Witt, who described Weber as his “best friend.”

“He was very involved, very dedicated to the town,” he said. “He was just a very sweet, thoughtful person.”

Weber also ran Weber’s Christmas Tree Farm, and was always active, Witt said.

“He was a young, strong hardworking man,” he said. “He was never sick. This is very, very sudden.”

Weber was “beloved” by his students, Witt said.

He had served on the Town Board since 2006.

Weber is survived by his wife, Rebecca.
