CPS is overwhelmed by number of reports

We were heartbroken when we read the Sept. 20 story about the beating death of 5-year-old Eain Brooks. Has nothing changed since the bludgeoning death of 10-year-old Abdifatah Mohamud in 2012?

One reason Child Protective Services does not handle this type of situation very well is that there are too many mandated reporters out there who report trivial matters and CPS cannot tell the difference between a trivial report and a report worth investigating. CPS wastes a lot of time and money investigating nonsense, while children who really are living in a dangerous, perhaps deadly, situation don’t get the help they need. How sad.
