Combative Orchard Park man taken for mental evaluation

A 31-year-old Powers Road man who Orchard Park Police would not identify was taken to Erie County Medical Center Friday morning for a mental evaluation after he acted extremely aggressively toward his parents.

Police were called the home where the man lives with his parents at about 6 a.m. and were told he had become combative after an apparent night of drinking and using meth, heroin, cocaine and marijuana.

The man was found hiding under a blanket in his bedroom and reportedly became extremely hostile and aggressive towards officers, trying to grab Officer Joseph Rizzo’s police baton before Lt. Patrick Fitzgerald incapacitated him with a Taser.

After being released from the hospital, the man will be arraigned on resisting arrest, harassment and obstruction charges.
