Mueller earns first win with Jr. Sabres

The Buffalo Jr. Sabres won for the sixth time in eight games, beating Newmarket (Ont.), 3-1, Wednesday at Northtown Center in Amherst in Ontario Junior Hockey League play.

Goalie Brandon Mueller of East Amherst earned his first OJHL win, making 16 saves. Ryan Schmelzer, Nick Smith and Michael Ederer scored for Buffalo (6-1-1), while Josh Gabriel had two assists.

Buffalo hits the road Saturday to play Kingston (Ont.) at 4:30 p.m.
