Filling an important administrative vacancy to deal with the state’s new Common Core system, the Cleveland Hill School Board unanimously appointed former Pinnacle Charter School administrator Daryl Janus interim director of curriculum, assessment and the chief information office.

The move comes as the district restructures its administrative positions to handle the new state standards and annual professional performance review system that was established last year.

Janus’ interim appointment lasts until the end of August 2014.

Superintendent Jon MacSwan said officials haven’t discussed how and when they will begin to seek a permanent administrator in the position, but it will happen over the year.

Janus will make about $81,000 a year, which overall saves the district money, according to the superintendent.
