Ex-Bison Craig murdered

Rodney Craig, a member of the Buffalo Bisons during the 1986 season, was stabbed to death in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday night.

Craig, 56, was said to have been told by six people to move his belongings down the street, according to a Los Angeles Police Department news release. Craig walked down Wilshire Boulevard and attempted to kick at a person’s dog and missed. The dog’s owner responded by striking Craig several times and then by stabbing Craig, who died at the scene.

Craig signed as a free agent with the Seattle Mariners in 1977. The outfielder reached the majors in 1979, hitting .385 in a 16-game trial. Craig later played for the Indians and White Sox. As a Bison, he hit .271 with 11 homers and 60 RBIs in 112 games.
