Two police agencies make eight drinking-and-driving arrests in Niagara County

State police and the Niagara County sheriff’s deputies made eight arrests, mostly for drunken driving, while conducting two sobriety checkpoints and one saturation detail over the weekend.

One of the checkpoints was held Saturday night in the Town of Lockport, while the other was conducted in the Town of Pendleton following the Bills game Sunday.

Seven people were charged with DWI, and the other with driving while ability impaired, according to police reports. The arrested people’s blood-alcohol levels ranged from 0.07 to 0.17 percent.
