Peter Angelo DeDomenico, a retired Niagara Falls firefighter, died Wednesday in Niagara Hospice House, Lockport, after a brief illness. He was 74.
He was born in Niagara Falls and attended local schools.
Mr. DeDomenico served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1962, stationed in Germany.
He worked for Hooker Chemical, Nabisco and the Niagara Falls Parks Department, and practiced as a barber during the mid-1960s before joining the city Fire Department.
Mr. DeDomenico retired in 1998 after a 30-year career as a firefighter.
In his spare time he enjoyed golf, fishing, gardening, working jigsaw and crossword puzzles, working out and bicycling. He also was a huge history buff.
His wife of 40 years, Julie P. Skorenki DeDomenico, died in 2002.
He is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Clark and Jessica LaMarca; a brother, Frank; and a sister, Rosamond Wolf.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday in Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 27th Street and Independence Avenue, Niagara Falls.
