Woman accused of stealing should be fully prosecuted

Falsely soliciting funds for one’s own financial gain is a crime.

The former treasurer of the Depew Saints Hockey Club has been portrayed by people who knew her as a nice person. Does a nice person steal money earmarked for a youth hockey organization?

Her husband stated that she has a disease. Compulsive gambling may be a disease. Kleptomania may be a disease. But preplanned solicitation of funds for one’s own financial gain is stealing. Stealing is not a disease; it is a crime.

If the suspect did steal from our children and grandchildren, she should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Hopefully, this won’t be all whitewashed due to her background as a volunteer, because she used that same background to assist her in her alleged crime.
