Anthony “Tony” Moses, of West Seneca, a funeral director, died unexpectedly Thursday in Erie County Medical Center. He was 55.
Born in Buffalo, he was a graduate of West Seneca East High School, served in the Air Force and graduated from Erie Community College.
Mr. Moses worked as a printer for Newspress and continued his printing career while attending Saturday classes at the Simmons Institute of Funeral Service in Syracuse.
Following graduation in 2000, he interned at Brian K. Lewis Funeral Home, where, after becoming licensed in 2001, he managed Providence Memorial Chapel at 1275 Sycamore St.
A Black Achievers Award recipient in 2003, he was a member of Nation of Islam Muhammad Mosque 23.
Surviving are his wife, the former Jonell Matlock; his parents, Vernena and Clarence; three daughters, Verlena, Athena and Dontrinette; and four sons, Airickison, Tyrone, Tyrell and T.J.
A wake will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Metropolitan United Methodist Church, 657 Best St., followed by a funeral service at noon.
