NEWFANE – A Newfane woman told Niagara County sheriff’s deputies Monday that $8,000 worth of jewelry she had locked up in her home in the 3100 block of Roland Drive was stolen sometime in the past month.

The woman said she went into lock box, which was in a bedroom closet, at 7 p.m. Monday to get a birth certificate and realized the locking mechanism had been broken and thousands of dollars worth of jewelry was missing.

Stolen were a five carat ruby ring, an antique ring and three diamond rings.
