Man is victim of vehicular assault in Falls

NIAGARA FALLS – A man on a three-wheeler said a pickup driver chased him onto a lawn with his truck, struck his three-wheeler and then cut his tires with a knife and swung the knife at him at 4 p.m. Tuesday on the 2400 block of Falls Street.

The 19-year-old victim said he had been riding his three-wheeler on the railroad tracks and pulled onto the roadway at 24th Street where a pickup drove up behind him, nearly hitting him. He said the driver of the pickup parked in front of him and a man he knows exited the truck and tried to punch him off of his three-wheeler. The three-wheeler driver was able to drive off, but said the pickup driver began to chase him, following him up onto the sidewalk and onto a lawn, where he was hit and knocked off the three-wheeler.

The pickup driver pulled out a knife, stabbed the right rear wheel and then took two swings at him with a knife, missing him, then left, according to the victim. The victim told police he would drive himself to a hospital for treatment of injuries, including a suspected broken rib.
