• Beware crazy promises. Panelists can expect reasonable compensation for completing surveys, but if someone claims you can make a living doing it, that’s a huge red flag.

• It’s better if you initiate contact with a market research firm. If you’re solicited by a company, check them out before going any further.

• Look for a privacy policy. Reputable companies should list the ways they use your information.

• Are they hiding something? Legitimate market research firms will willingly disclose who they are, where they are, their company’s history as well as specifics about their surveys and compensation.
