Hanover reappoints assessor for six-year term

SILVER CREEK – The Hanover Town Board has reappointed Darlene Fox as assessor for a six year term.

The board also increased her annual salary to $39,000. She also was authorized to hire Jill Valvo as an assistant at the rate of $10 an hour for part time work.

The board authorized the sale of the Water Department’s 2005 Ford 350 van after declaring it as excess equipment. The vehicle will be advertised and bids will be opened on Oct. 11.

The purchase of a ductile iron chain saw for the Water Department was authorized. The saw will be purchased from Russett Equipment for $3,995.

Forestville Mayor Linda Aures told the board that residents of Creek Road are interested in forming a water district that would be administered by the town. Creek Road homes have been buying water from Forestville but will be cut off of the village system due to a new spring-fed supply. Since they are outside village limits, the residents will have to form a district that is governed by the town.

Town Councilman Kevin O’Connell has been working with Forestville residents on the district issue.
