LOCKPORT – A Niagara County Court jury convicted a Niagara Falls man of three drug charges late Thursday.
Cariorl D. Mayfield, 20, of Eighth Street, was found guilty of fourth- and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana, charges stemming from an Oct. 13 traffic stop in the Falls. Police said they found cocaine and hydrocodone in the car.
During the four-day trial, County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas dismissed the most serious charge, third-degree criminal possession with intent to sell. But Mayfield still faces a maximum of 5½ years in prison when he is sentenced Nov. 15.
Assistant District Attorney Theresa L. Prezioso was the prosecutor. Angelo Musitano represented Mayfield.
