Niagara County law enforcement participated in the national “End of Summer and Labor Day DWI Enforcement Crackdown” from August 16 to Sept. 2. All agencies involved utilized increased patrol units that were specifically designated for DWI enforcement. In that time period, 43 people across Niagara County were arrested for driving while intoxicated. These extra patrol units also had an additional 76 arrests, and issued approximately 851 traffic tickets.

Participating agencies were: Niagara County Sheriff’s Office, Niagara Falls Police Department, North Tonawanda Police Department, Lockport Police Department, Middleport Police Department, Lewiston Police Department, Town of Niagara Police Department, Barker Police Department, Somerset Police Department, New York State Parks Police and New York State Police.
