OLCOTT – An 80-year-old man suspects that his neighbor, who was given the key to watch his house while he was on vacation, helped himself to his credit card and withdrew more than $1,800 from his account.

Robert W. Baker, 46, of Washington Street was charged Tuesday with two counts of grand larceny by Niagara County sheriff’s deputies after he admitted he took the card and used it while his neighbor was on vacation.

The victim said $1,816 was taken from his account while he was on vacation between Aug. 29 and Sept. 8. He said Baker was given the key and asked to watch the house and on Tuesday Baker returned the credit card to him and admitted that he had used it. The victim said he was advised by his bank of the suspicious purchases and had cancelled the account.
