CPI of Oswego beat Jordan Realty of Minnesota 3-0 to win the 2013 NAFA Fastpitch Masters 45 and over World Series, held in Madison Wis. Members of the team include: John Kuryak (Lackawanna), Larry Puzan (Youngstown), Gary Cullen (Orchard Park), Paul Ditta (Cheektowaga), Mike Vanderlip (Elma), Kevin Przybyl (Lakeview), John Dry (Salamanca) and Tom Berube (Niagara Falls). Berube was MVP Pitcher and Dry was MVP for the tournament.


The North Tonawanda Football Hall of Fame induction will take place Friday, Oct. 4 during the North Tonawanda and Starpoint football game. Archie Hood, Fran Burke, Greg Zayatz, Alex Port and Matt Scalice will be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Also being honored are the Bud Henry award winners; Don and Karen Warmington and Donna and Ken Braun. The inductees will also be honored at a banquet on Saturday, Oct. 5th at Rescue Fire Hall, 6 p.m. For ticket info, contact Bob Szynkowski, 695-2571 by Sept. 23.


The Sweet Home Athletic Hall Of Fame dinner will be held Friday, Sept. 27, at 6 p.m. at Classics Banquet Facility, Amherst. Tickets are $40, contact Mike Faulks at usa97@roadrunner.com by Sept. 23. The inductees include; Jodi Bowers, Marc Brodfuehrer, Tony Doran,R.J. Filipiak, Jennifer Higgins-Scott, Mike Lauria, Colleen Lee, Brian Lombardo, Ben Weihrich, Steve Ginsberg, Paul Schintzius and Lynn Shanahan.


Andrew Rampado of Buffalo won the Delaware Soccer Club Student Service Scholarship Award, given each year to a student/player who is headed to college and has demonstrated outstanding service to the club. Rampado received $500 and a crystal trophy.


BASEBALL: Wheatfield Elite Travel team will have 9U and 10U tryouts Sunday, 10 a.m. to noon, at American Legion Post 1451, 6525 Ward Road, Sanborn. Call, 946-9942 for details. ... FOOTBALL: Tri-County touch football will begin on Wed., Sept. 18 at 5:30 p.m. and will run for five consective Wednesday nights at the George Dispenza Memorial Field on Broadway Road in Gowanda. Children ages 8-13 who reside in Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Erie County are eligible. Basic football skills will be taught followed by games.
