Man accused of trying to extort money from Pegula sentenced to prison

Vivek Shah’s attempts to extort $34 million from Buffalo Sabres owner Terry Pegula never went anywhere.

And now Shah is going to prison for 7 years.

Booth Goodwin, a U.S. Attorney in West Virginia, said Shah, 26, of West Hollywood, Calif., was sentenced for orchestrating a multimillion-dollar extortion scheme that included death threats against family members of seven prominent victims, including Pegula and movie producer Harvey Weinstein.

Shah’s sentencing was the result of an investigation by the FBI and United States Postal Inspection Service.
