Evelyn E. Sivecz, 92, Alden court clerk, justice

Evelyn E. Sivecz, a former town justice in Alden, died Monday in Autumn View Health Care Facility, Hamburg. She was 92.

Born in Buffalo, Mrs. Sivecz served as Alden Town Court clerk from 1968 to 1981 for her husband, Town Justice William S. Sivecz. She ran for town justice after he died in 1981 and was elected. She served until 1997 and also was acting justice in the Village of Alden.

She was a charter member and past president of the Erie County Court Clerks Association and a charter member and founding president of the New York State Magistrates Court Clerks Association.

Mrs. Sivecze traveled to many counties in the state, helping court clerks to organize associations.

Mrs. Sivecz was past president of the Alden Republican Women’s Club and a member of St. John the Baptist Parish Council.

She also was a counselor for rape victims for Erie County Crisis Services.

Survivors include a daughter, Marion Schmidt; and a son, William.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2021 Sandridge Road, Alden.
