Nichols School appointed Mary Rech Rockwell assistant head of school and Danielle Vallas mental health counselor. Rockwell, most recently director of studies, has been with the school since 1980. Vallas joined the school in 2005 as a physical education faculty member, coach and wellness teacher. She recently earned a master’s degree in mental health counseling from the University at Buffalo after graduating from Hobart and William Smith Colleges and earning a master’s in education from Canisius College.


Phillips Lytle partner Dave H. Kernan will give a presentation about federal income taxation of life insurance products to the Buffalo Chapter of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors on Oct. 17 at Milo’s Restaurant in Williamsville.

The Advertising Club of Buffalo recently hosted “The Big Tip-Off,” its celebrity bartending event, raising more than $4,000 for the Ad Club Scholarship Fund, which supports the local advertising community by awarding educational resources to area students annually.
