Buffalo Zoo needs help to keep polar bears here
I am writing in response to a recent article in The News, “Buffalo Zoo’s fundraising push leaves a chilly impression,” Colin Dabkowski doubted the fact that the Buffalo Zoo is in critical need of funds for the Arctic Edge exhibit to keep Luna in Buffalo. The need is, in fact, real. While Kali was originally never meant to stay in Buffalo permanently, Luna will stay if we raise the needed funds to build her exhibit.
We have many activities surrounding this great city that cater to all. The Buffalo Zoo is a great place not only for families, but for everyone. What a shame it would be if we lost the opportunity to build a world-class exhibit to house many Arctic animals, especially polar bears. We are famous for our cold winters and snow, and losing the polar bears would surely be a black eye on our community.
So, yes, the need is real. We need other activities besides football and hockey for families and the Arctic Edge is a great place to start. So, let’s go, Buffalo! Our zoo has only a few weeks left to reach its goal to keep Luna here. Let’s show our spirit. With all of us working together, maybe Kali will be able to stay a bit longer, too. Pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters and dollars will help the zoo reach its goal. Together we can make a difference; together we can get this done.
