Liz Johnson of Cheektowaga survived her first match in the losers bracket Tuesday night, defeating No. 47 seed Joely Carillo, 605-591, to stay alive in the USBC Queens Tournament at Sunset Station in Henderson, Nev. Earlier Johnson, who qualified fourth, lost in the second round of match play to No. 30 Shalin Zulkifli of Malaysia, 696-668, after defeating 61st seed Lesia Herider, 598-553. Johnson matched against No. 60 seed Catherine Rawsthorne in her first match today.

Johnson shot 1,094 (218.8 average) in the third and final five-game round of qualifying for an overall total of 3,341 (222.73) before match play began Tuesday.
