A driver who led Erie County Sheriff’s deputies on a foot chase through several backyards on the Cattaraugus Reservation was charged with felony driving while intoxicated.

Desmond A. Jimerson, 40, of Longhouse Road, Lawtons, was arrested at 12:30 p.m. Monday by Deputy Gary Mosier after abandoning his car and taking off on foot, authorities said. Mosier pulled over Jimerson’s car on Longhouse Road. State police assisted in the chase.

Deputies said Jimerson, who failed sobriety tests, had several driving suspensions and his license had been revoked. He was convicted previously of driving while intoxicated, leading to felony DWI and felony aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle. He also was charged with second-degree obstructing governmental administration.

Additionally, he faces two outstanding warrants against him – one from the Sheriff’s Office and one from the Town of Evans.

Jimerson was arraigned in North Collins Town Court and remanded to Erie County Holding Center in lieu of $1,000 bail or a $2,000 bond.
