Theft suspect who jumped from bridge in West Seneca is behind bars

The Cheektowaga man who jumped off a bridge into Buffalo Creek in West Seneca after stealing beer and cookies from a nearby supermarket Monday night was in custody in Erie County Holding Center Friday night, West Seneca police said.

Ricky Ross, 19, of Charles Street, was apprehended Thursday and is being held on stolen propertycharges pending further court proceedings and possible action by an Erie County grand jury. Police said Ross jumped into the creek at its deepest spot, allowing him to safely swim off
