The New York State Nursery and Landscape Association honored Sally Cunningham at the New York State Fair with the 2013 Hall of Fame award.

Cunningham, who is a certified nursery and landscape professional and a columnist for The Buffalo News, also directs education and consults at Lockwood’s Greenhouses in Hamburg and is also the co-founder and executive director of Buffalo’s National Garden Festival.

Also, the association presented Ed Dore, of Dore Landscape/Akron Tree Farms, with the George L. Good Gold Medal of Horticulture.


Donna L. Burden, a founding partner of Burden, Gulisano & Hickey, a Buffalo law firm, was appointed chairwoman of the International Association of Defense Counsel’s Transportation Committee for the 2013-2014 term.

The International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC) is a professional association for corporate and insurance defense lawyers around the world.

Ten Thousand Vines, a Hamburg micro-winery, was awarded three medals at the 2013 International Indy Wine Competition.

Traminer Gold and That’s Amore received gold medals, and Cab Fare won a silver.

The owner and winemaker at Ten Thousand Vines is Orchard Park resident Mike Ditonto.


Sonwil Distribution Center received the British Retail Consortium (BRC) Global Standard Certification for Storage and Distribution.

The certification is the result of the company’s ongoing implementation of best practices and process improvements.
