Sophomore Tyler Mautner and junior Mike Burke of the University at Buffalo were named to The Perfect Game’s Summer College All-America baseball team.
Mautner, one of three third basemen named, won the Far West League’s Triple Crown and was Player of the Year. He batted .390 with 13 home runs and 57 RBIs in 57 games for Top Speed, the league runner-up. He also had 26 doubles.
Burke had a 3-1 record and an 0.55 earned run average for the Holyoke Blue Sox of the New England Collegiate League. He had 56 strikeouts and just nine walks in a league-leading 65 innings. He ended the season with three straight complete-game performances, including a 4-2 win in the playoffs. He earned the Robin Roberts Award as the league’s top pitcher.
BASEBALL: Cheektowaga Youth Crusaders will hold travel tryouts for their inaugural season for boys ages 8U-12U. The Cheektowaga Crusaders is formed from the alliance of three local leagues. BOAT SHOW: The 36th annual Antique Boat Show will be held Sept. 7 at the Buffalo Launch Club, 503 East River Road, Grand Island, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission is free.
