Residents invited to dispose of hazardous materials

FALCONER – Disposal day at the Chautauqua County Highway Garage, 454 N. Work St., will give county residents an opportunity to throw out some hazardous materials that cannot be placed with regular trash.

The event will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 14.

Chemical fertilizers, herbicides, drain cleaners, floor polish, fluorescent light bulbs, hobby glues, mercury thermometers, bulk mercury, nail polish, aerosol cans that are not empty, paint, pool chemicals, tar, antifreeze and turpentine will be accepted.

Waste motor oil and latex paint will not be accepted. Oil-based paint can be included in the items.

The collection does not include any electronic products such as televisions, DVD players, computers or cellphones.

Any county resident who wants to drop off hazardous materials should be prepared to fill out a form or complete it online and bring it to the drop-off location.
